Boru is a seven-piece band specializing in blazing melodies and driving rhythms, songs that are funny, sad, sentimental and rousing (sometimes at the same time). With members from widely diverse musical backgrounds ranging from classical to country and western, bluegrass to Irish and American folk, it's hard to keep our roots from showing. Focused primarily on the Celtic tradition, Boru's repertoire features a variety of influences.

Bodhran, Vocals, Mountain Dulcimer
Tori has played bodhran (an Irish drum) with bands in California and Texas. She's recently added mountain dulcimer to her repertoire, lending an authentic old-time sound to the band.
Banjo, Vocals
Mike began his music career on the guitar, but switched to banjo after hearing the Dallas Banjo Band. His bluegrass and old-time influence can be heard in a number of Boru tunes.
Keyboard, Mandolin, Vocals
Bob's been in bands for more than 25 years. His country western and folk musical background influence Boru's very distinctive sound. He's well on the road to recovery.
Guitar, Vocals
John's been playing music or dancing for audiences for many years. A former member of the Boys of Wexford, John is well-known in Irish and Scottish music and dance circles throughout Texas.
John's a certified dance caller for contra dances and other traditional styles.
Bass, Vocals
Karen's a classically-trained pianist and vocalist who spends her dyas with 280+ middle school choral students. She also writes, records and performs original music. Sharing the joy of music is what keeps her going.
Mandolin, Octave Mandolin, Banjo, Whistles
Andy's up for a session anywhere, anytime. It's all about the music, and continuing the tradition. With a well-place twist here and there.
Fiddle, Vocals
Roger brings a wealth of old-time style fiddling experience to Boru. He's added a distinctly American feel to the band's music.
